Light to medium period: Yes. When you are in water, blood cannot leave your body because of the water pressure. When you get out of the water, the blood will naturally come out and flow into your swimsuit (replacing the water in the absorbent part). Blood contains iron and is therefore heavier than water, which is why it settles at the bottom of period beachwear.

If you have medium to heavy menstruation , period beachwear is better suited to use as extra protection for a tampon or menstrual cup. In this case, we advise against wearing period beachwear alone while swimming.

Yes, the blood is safely contained within the fabric. However, if you have medium to heavy periods, we recommend using the underwear as beachwear and not as swimwear. Most brands that offer period beachwear claim that you can go swimming with it, but that's not really true. If you have a light period, you can safely go swimming with it. But if you have a medium to heavy period, you should wear it as beachwear or as extra protection for a tampon or menstrual cup.

No. The blood is trapped and the growth of bacteria is prevented, so you feel fresh at all times.

If you start to feel clammy, it's time to change your period underwear.
